Online Roulette for Real Money

rouletteThe game of Roulette is one of the oldest and most popular casino games around. It’s also one of the easier games to learn, play, and win big. For many of us, playing Roulette at a casino is a tough chore. It requires time and money just to get there for the majority of players. There is an alternative however, and that would be: online Roulette.

We live in a world that revolves around the internet. It has brought us many of the day-to-day tasks that we take for granted. We can work from home, chat with friends overseas, and now we can play Roulette for real money.

Online roulette is much the same as you would find in any live casino, as far as the rules and premise of the game goes. The only difference being, you’re playing it online rather than in a casino. You can place all the same bets that have the same payouts and even chat with friends while playing. All while in your pajamas or watching your favorite movie.

If you’re new to online Roulette or any type of Roulette, let’s first discuss how the game is played and its rules. These are very simple and will only take a short time to understand. Before you know it, you’ll be playing online Roulette for real money and, hopefully, winning big!

Roulette Rules

A standard Roulette table will have a wheel, a ball and a betting table. A dealer (or Croupier as they’re called in a live casino) will drop the ball in the spinning wheel. Players can make bets on any number of choices until the dealer says no more bets. We’ll cover all your betting options in a second. Once no more bets are allowed, you wait until the ball lands in one of the slots of the wheel.

The most common Roulette wheels will have 38 slots. With 36 of these being numbers 1-36, along with a single and double zero. All numbers 1-36 will alternate between red and black, with half being red and the other half black. The objective is to bet on where the ball will land.

There is another form of Roulette called European Roulette which only has a single zero, but still has numbers 1-36. This game offers better odds to the player due to having less numbers.

You have two types of bets, inside and outside bets. Your inside bets are the various numbers on the wheel. You can place a bet on a single number, a group, block, row, or any combination of them. These inside bets have higher paying odds, but are also considered bad bets since they have a higher house edge.

The outside bets are your even money bets. Most of these bets will pay at 1-1 or slightly higher. That’s not very exciting, but they are your best options in Roulette as the house edge is minute compared to other bets. Outside bets will consist of red and black and odd or even, which pay 1-1. You can also find bets for rows or columns of numbers that will pay slightly higher odds, but are much less attractive given the higher house edge.

How to Play Online Roulette

The rules outlined above are standard for any type of Roulette game, whether online or in a live casino. When you go to play online all you need to do is pick a site that offers Roulette and join. Once you create an account with that site, you will simply find the Roulette games, and you’re on your way to playing online Roulette.

The game play itself will be different from playing in a live casino, but it’s rather easy. When you load a Roulette game on your computer, you will see all the familiar items that you will find at a live Roulette game. You will have the wheel, a ball, and the betting table that displays all of your available bets.

When you play online, you will normally have no time limit on placing bets, which is nice advantage versus playing live. The action starts when you decide to click the start button. To place a bet, you just click on the table where your preferred bet is and choose the amount you wish to bet. There is also no limit to the amount of bets that can be placed.

Once all your bets are placed, just click the start button and the software will do the rest. For visual aesthetics, the wheel will actually spin and you may hear some “authentic” Roulette sounds. When the ball lands, all bets are either paid out or taken by the house if they are losers. Once a round is complete, you can start all over again and play until you’ve had enough.

One of the other advantages of playing online is being able to play on auto pilot. Many Roulette games online will have a feature that allows you to set a predetermined number of spins and specific bet amounts for each bet. For example: You could set the game to bet $5 on black for 10 spins of the wheel, and you won’t have to repeat the process every single time. This has no effect on the outcome of the game; it’s merely a tool for those who like fast-paced games.

Variations of Online Roulette

Primarily, you will find the American version of Roulette online. But, just as in live casinos, you will find some variations of the game. European Roulette is offered at many of the online casinos today and is a must-play over the American version if you have the option. As stated earlier, European Roulette has a lower house advantage than the American version, making it more profitable for the player. Other versions include; French Roulette, Royale Roulette, multi-player Roulette, and more.

French Roulette is just like European Roulette, only everything is in French. The game itself derives from France and many“realists” prefer this style.

Roulette Royale is exactly the same as normal Roulette as well, with an exciting twist. This version will have a progressive jackpot that can be won. The jackpots are much like any other progressive jackpot in slots in that they grow over time and hit at random. To qualify for the jackpot there is a minor catch. You must pay a small fee before each spin in order to be eligible for the jackpot.

To compete with each other, casinos have been trying to invent new ways to play online Roulette for real money. One of the latest crazes is what’s called Live Dealer Roulette. This is just like any other Roulette game, except you actually get to see a live person using a real Roulette wheel. They will drop the ball and act as if you are in a live casino. You can interact with the dealers only through chat, but it’s still a unique and entertaining way to play Roulette.

Multiplayer Roulette is, again, the same style of Roulette as the others. The main difference being that other players will be at your table. When you play a normal game of Roulette online, it’s just you and the computer. Noticing a need for social interaction, online casinos have begun to offer many of their table games in a multiplayer format.

The game will have a chat function that allows you to chat with other players at the table. The rules remain the same and there is no benefit to playing multiplayer versus another form. However, if you enjoy casual conversation and cheering each other on, multiplayer Roulette could be a better option for you.

You can see that playing online Roulette for real money isn’t all that different form playing it live. In fact, I would recommend it over playing live for its sheer ease of access and ways to play. Although you could never replace the atmosphere of a live casino, (some we don’t want) playing online has many benefits that outweigh its live version.
